SYNDROME AND RELATED TOPICS!
Our theme this year is:
Adaptations—learning how we can adapt personally and with those
around us. The morning session begin with a presentation by
specialists at the Central Maine Medical Center’s Seton Unit in
Waterville. Melissa Rikert and Kim Collette will tall about the
facility’s post polio evaluation program. Services include physical and
occupational therapies, pain management, massage and ultrasound
treatments.
We will see demonstrations of stretching exercises and learn about
energy conservation, home modifications, and other common sense tips on
items such as changes in posture and utilization of assistive devices. |

Several companies with products and services for people with
disabilities will be on hand with demonstrations.
PPSGM Board members Reggie Arsenault and Connie Tutlis will
facilitate a panel discussion, and will invite questions and comments
from seminar attendees on topics of interest such as home
modifications, surgery and anesthesia, living alone, dealing with
government regulations and medical evaluations.
Following a baked ham luncheon, Richard J. Parker, PhD, will lead the
afternoon session focusing on caregiver/carereceiver relationships. Dr.
Parker is a practicing psychologist in Bath. After opening remarks, we
will divide into two groups to discuss individual concerns in depth.
A tentative agenda including directions to the seminar site, schedule of
events, and a registration form is included inside Polio Update. If it’s
