In the afternoon, he and his wife, Judy will conduct an informal session with audience participation. (NOTE: For a preview of Dan's work, go to his website at http://www.danmillerspeaker.com.)
We are also fortunate to have representatives from New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Portland who will demonstrate several innovative ways to make life easier. This hospital is the only acute rehabilitation hospital in the State of Maine. Specialists in physical and occupational therapy will interact with us and help us experiment with useful tools, such as better posture and walking aids, and various other topics. Alissa Towle is a physical therapist, specializing in neurological rehabilitation. She conducts wheelchair and brace clinics. Kim Bailey, OTR/L also works in this field and is certified in neurological developmental techniques.
Dr. Syed Kazmi, a physiatrist at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital, brings special insight, as he is also a polio survivor. He has been a strong advocate for our group and supportive in our endeavors. Dr. Kazmi will discuss the effects of aging on polio survivors, and how we may best work with our health professionals.
Vendors will also show and demonstrate some of the most innovative and latest assistive aids available. Our official Web Master, Bill Anthony will be on hand with his laptop computer to show off our website and to demonstrate Internet access for the beginner. And don't forget our Silent Auction! We are looking for contributions of new items, crafts, homemade goodies, etc. Your donations are always appreciated.

More About our Annual Seminar...

Two Ways Can Help

#1
Contact your local newspaper and share the details in this newsletter on the seminar. While we like to think we’ve done a pretty good job in finding polio survivors, it’s likely that there are still others who could benefit from this full day of polio-related information.

#2
One way we can keep seminar costs as low as possible is through the silent auction. You can help by bringing something like baked goods, craft items, or anything else you can think of.
